No it could not. This device requires direct neural stimulation. It is under your control.

My mom has Multiple System Atrophy (Shy-Drager). This would be extremely useful technology for that.

"ur so stpid.wow urbr lam.i no u suk." That really makes sense, doesn't it? Because thats just what you see on a usual text message. Not to mention the advanced knowledge to know how to develop a machine that can interpret nerve signals and form them into understandable english. Do YOU know how to do this? Do you know that this is an amazing step in communication? Think about what you say.

this is DUMB... if someone wants to get a message across to someone else ... send a Freakin text message... its way faster and NO guessing involved...

Why do I feel like this isn't true? I smell bullshit... but I trust New Scientist. hmmm I'm torn.If this is real, it will be one of those inventions that revolutionizes much of the world's technology, and how we use it..

WhiteEuropa, thank you for proving your wonderful ignorance to society...how bout thinking instead of the harm that this can cause but the greatness, allowing people who lose the ability to speak, such as those with lou gherig's disease, to be able to regain such an ability and communicate with friends and family again

This is ridiculous, imagine what the government could do with this. start reading our thoughts.. the wonderful surveillance democracy that we live in is nothing but tyranny
