Wasnt their an Option back when they were replacing the old trucks with the LSVWs, that they were picking between the LSVW and the HMMVW. . . personaly I would much rather be driving an HMMBW because well. . . it can go highway speeds.~Thanato

IMHO the CF should be allowed to purchase off the shelf from whoever has the best kit. For example the 5/4 ton should have been replaced with the HMMVW, the ILTIS with the Land Rover. Our new Howitzers (from the USA) are kicking butt! Our LSVW's (from Canada) sucked from day 1. The military is one of those specialties where one should not scrimp. Buy the best one can afford, regardless of where it is made. That was supposed to be a hallmark of NATO...the best kit was adopted by all.

The Canadian forces are trained in canada, not USA...only base who canada's forces can be trained is in fort bliss ,Camp Shelby and one in florida i miss the name. But you forget american and british who come here in canada for training, such the pilot in bagotville, and the NASA astraunaut come here in Canada for cold environment such New-Brunswick(Gagetown) and North of Canada(Baffin island).

Half of our equipement are built in canadian soil , the rest is a foreign equipement many are from Germany/france/england. Only few are from U.S.A , but the small arms such C7 (M16) are built by canadian weapon industry called Diamaco (now Colt-Canada) is a renew M16 more lighter than the original U.S made. The only equipement who are from U.S.A is the aircrafr (only fighter and cargo) we have de Havilland Canada but only for CC-115 buffalo ,is a DHC-5 (NASA and US army use it)
