It broke as soon as they finised tested it. They hope to fix it to actually do the experiment in January. I hope it does create a sustained black hole, it would be awesome. It would take CERN with it. Its proof that we have the money to solve poverty and world hunger, but we would rather spend it on things that might not work. In total, this thing cost over 16 billion dollars. What a waste.

"This is TOTALLY unknown terrtory!"Not quite.Cosmic rays at 14 TeV and some at vastly higher energies have been frequently detected hitting the planet. They will need a vastly more powerful collider before they get into totally unknown territory.

Better hope and pray that it doesn't go 'Ice-9' on us. This is TOTALLY unknown terrtory!

Yes its inevitable, we are all mere mortals after all.

OH LAWD!!!! WE ALL GONNA DIE!!!! BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY COLLISIONS OF ELECTRONS AND PROTONS FROM A SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT ARE MUCH MORE DANGEROUS THAN THE SAME COLLISIONS COMING FROM THE SUN THAT HAVE HAPPENED BILLIONS OF TIMES BEFORE.OBVIOUSLY, THE LARGE HADRON COLLIDER IS JABILLIONS MORE DANGEROUS THAN OTHER PARTICLE ACCELERATORS.OH LAWD! WE ALL GONNA DIE! DON'T EVEN REGARD THE FACT THAT BLACK HOLES ARE CREATED BY WHOLE STARS COLLAPSING INTO MOON-SIZED SPHERES./end rant

It just occurred to me, in the future when the Hadron becomes obsolete, It could make one HELL of a skating rink.
