Yeah, they're always supposed to be giant, but they came out with Gundam SD where the gundam was human sized and controlled itself. There was a police officer gundam, and all other kinds. It was probably the gayest gundam ever. Completely against the Gundam religion.

Being realistic: Heero had a mission. A lot of resources, money, and even lives had gone into creating his gundam and getting him to Earth with it, and without anyone knowing. Relena was a liability, and therefore had to be removed. It didn't matter how likely she was to keep her word, her life put his mission at risk, and therefore he judged that she had to be removed. He warned her out of fairness.Remember, the Gundam pilots were terrorists.
