Louis De Funès was very much loved in former Soviet Union. When I was very young and Fantomas was shown in my town, there were huge line to get tickets. I staid in this line more than 4 hours and it was winter and very cold(-20 C degrees). I didn't left before I got my tickets. I always loved Louis De Funès and I have all his movies on DVD. He was very much loved before and I can bet he still very much loved in all post-soviet countries.

Fantastique Fantomas avec Louis de Funès en très grande forme..Du très grand De FUNES, qui est arrivé à éclipser le grand Jean Marais, c'est pas rien quand même..

Cool movie. Never saw it without translation. And still think that "Souzmultfilm" did the best translation :) This reminds me when I was five. I was a really big fan of "Fantomas" in that age. When I was 7 I even made small rocket car from wood :)Especially I like the moment when he says that he wanted to use one brain, but two brains is much better :) And when I was child I newer believed that it's only two three series of "Fantomas" :'(

I gotta say I am surprised at how well liked he is outside of France. I am from France and have been watching him for years now but I never thought he was popular abroad. Anyway, I was really scared of Fantomas when I was a kid. Watching it now and thinking about how I used to be scared is quite funny!

Wild little short, I've always pictured Fantomas as being a little more menacing than what you get here at least from the pulp serial which dates back to 1911,It's still an interesting little film though.
