This song is chock full of beautiful, soul wrenching lyrics and awesome melody. The piano in the beginning is just gorgeous. It's true we just don't hear original songs like this much these days, even though it makes me feel old to say it.

Michael Murphy came out with this song while I was stationed at Mc Connell AFB in Wichita Kansas back in the mid 70's and I was in love with a babe named Maria, cool song and great memories this song brings back. ;)

If you do not believe that video killed the radio star here is more proof. There was a time when artists wrote their own music/songs [MMM and a buddy put this piece together in ONE DAY! after a dream he had one night based upon a ghost horse story from his grandfather], played instruments, sang in tune, and their live performance was better than any recording and kept audiences spellbound. You can bet my 18mo old son will hear this tune a bunch :)

this song brings back many memories..when I was 15 in 1976 my beloved horse "Wish" had to be put down, due to previous injuries he sustained as a former racehorse. This had to happen 2 days before Christmas, and I felt like I was dying. I must have listened to this song over 100 times and cried during every time. I'm 47 and I still miss my boy.

I was stationed at Mc Connell AFB in Wichita back in 75 to 77 and this song was one of those of those days that came out on the radio. It was a melody that sang out so true and down to earth and I still remember that to this day. Peace. ;)

And as a vocalist let me say this song is a bitch to sing.

I have often thought the same over a few songs

I have never been able to work out how Micheal could sing this song without bursting into tears, cause I swear, everytime I hear this song.... I am unable to contain my emotions.....
