For BobiusBrown your comment shows your ignorance to music and jazz in general. Anyone that has heard Benson play straight ahead bop can tell that Mr. Bireli has studied his playing in his earlier days and just took that to another level with a blend of his own style. Observe before you make a comment.

Bireli, incredible player. Very Benson inspired as you can hear. Both have that fire!

I stopped listening to guitar players years ago as they all started to sound the same. I listen to Ravel, Stravinsky, Rachmoninoff, Barber, Rimsky Korsakov.. when I listen to "jazz" it is more contemporary these days, people like George Duke and others who put a funk spin on the music. to me the ding a ding jazz is dying.

I play guitar, but I generally get my jazz lines from Oscar Peterson or the Marsalis guys or Bird or someone like that... I've only recently started listening to the guitar greats for direct assimilation into the language. |
