this fucking pisses me off. If we are going to bail out banks then they need to pay us a 40$ overdraft fee for every 1$ just like they do to people who accidentally overdraft there accounts by 1$!!!

By the way, as renters, we also chose to forego the tax break of having a mortgage because it was the smart, fiscally responsible, forward thinking thing to do. So, in essence, we have also paid more taxes than the foolish and that money is now being used to reward the foolish.

It isnt right! Prudence & good choices should be rewarded. Let the market work & allow prices to fall. The market will balance out. Those who were smart will be buying houses. Its our turn, we paid our dues, saw this coming, avoided foolish risks and deserve our opportunity. The government should not take this away to reward those who chose to be idiots.

I foresaw the mortgage crisis when people were becoming ever more foolish in their deals. Now, instead of being rewarded for my prudence, I am being punished and the foolish get the rewards??? The reckless and careless get protected?? Dont worry about making stupid choices, kids, someone will bail you out?!?! This is not the lesson of fiscal responsibility that I want to teach my children when they ask why we are renting a house when their friends parents all own their own homes.

You know the U.S government just nationalized AIG, after nationalizing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and after guaranteeing Bear Stearns bad debts. When the government owns companies that's called socialism. Republicans Bush, Paulson and Bernanke arranged these deals. Why don't you face reality and realize both parties are going to give us socialism and it's the Republicans that are leading the way!

Excellent point...then Bob voted in Obama and he forced healthcare on everyone and cost the taxpayer over a trillion dollars...Now we all live in run down homes and work for the government..standing in line for toilet paper and groceries...no one can afford cars or gas....hmmm...say like Cuba or Russia?

many of them did not have enough money to buy a house in the first place. that is the whole point of the meltdown... the loan industry went crazy, and gave people loans without checking their employmen history, their income, or anything else basically. and i dont want them to become renters, my rent shot up by 10% last week, presumably because of increased demand. furthermore, the 'ownership society' that conservatives dream of cant happen if everyone is renting.

Come on, that's just silly. These people aren't going to become homeless, they'll just buy a smaller house or become *gasp* renters. If they had enough money to buy a house in the first place, I have a feeling they'll have enough to pay for rent.

Not to mention a little off-base: Obama is neither anti-war nor fiscally responsible. Check out his record. Check out his promises. Oh, and did you like how he voted to grant immunity to the telecoms who were spying on us? Yep, "change." Right. |
