nevermind i lied. i just looked up a video of elephants walking...apparently they do sometimes walk like that?...weird. i was wrong.

elephants (and any 4 legged creature) don't walk like that. the animation has the elephant walking with both right legs than both left legs. last time i checked thats not how animals walk.
