Delta Flight 6499, SEVEN HOURS on the tarmac

Delta Flight 6499 JFK to DFW on June 25 2007 experienced more than just a routine delay.. for seven hours, four children screamed, and we were told by crew that they couldn't feed us because Delta simply wouldn't allow it.I do not fault the crew for the delay, but someone at the airline IS at fault for not having a plan B during an event similar to this. Apparently there are no laws currently that mandate any action be taken after a certain number of hours passes. Even if the delay was twelve, fifteen hours, forcing passengers to stay on the plane is all legal. In a post-9/11 world, forget about raising your voice or causing a fuss on board an aircraft, as everyone is well aware you can be detained for making any kind of commotion. The theory behind the media storm swirling from this clip will be featured in my upcoming book on social engineering .. HAXXED.TV :D cheers.

That's no 757 I've ever seen. Far too narrow, plus seating is 2-2 (757 economy is 3-3). i think the OP mentioned that it was an Embraer (not Delta mainline) of some kind

Love the ending "Holy...". Priceless! His face when the baby quartet started crying was also priceless.Shame on you, Delta!! You should be reimbursing every single passenger fare on that flight and then some!

I would have lost it for sure after 3 hours. The voice of that pilot would have sent me over the edge - and I consider myself a calm man.

Are you seriously questioning the necessity of crew rest? This particular crew was removed after reaching 16 hours on duty. Flight time to DFW is typically 3.5 hours, barring any weather diversions, etc...Taxi time at JFK often exceeds 3+ hours during peak evening departure times, as most international flights depart then. Simply ask yourself- do you really want someone who has been on duty over 23 hours in control of your aircraft on landing several hours later? Use your head!

Aren't you NOT supposed to have electronics out during takeoff's or lands? isn't it only during 10,000 feet in the air?

How much is gas in Europe? Gas is much cheaper in the US, hence, pilot training in the US is cheaper. Much more taxes in aviation over in Europe that are not the case in the US. So foreign pilots come to the US to train and then acquire a job with the airlines to A. Build up their flight time to move back to Europe and fly or B. stay in the US and continue flying.

If you want to blow Delta's head off, blow the management, don't blame the employee's, they're just doing their job.
