Your argument is basically an "appeal to authority" just like that of the questioner in the video when he trashes Mersheimer's & co. book without explaining what is wrong with it. Just like him, by not explaining Benda's argument, you try to walk around any debate. Anyway, Benda's argument applies to intellectuals who support a state's action, however immoral, betraying their own ideals. So the argument can certainly be used against intellectuals who support the Israeli state.
