damn I went to Stanley's house and he showed me this bass...so frikkin cool... he has another one about two hundred years old, I've never heard such a rich sound out of a bass

you and i can play that bass he's using and have totally different sounds. its definitely the musician applied to the instrument producing a tonal character

He was kinda turning around the harmonics of the Spanish Phases for Strings and Bass (around 5.20 for example, same bassline) .Looks like a simple training for him..he's really a talented guy

no that's not it. It's just the way he and his bass sound. I have a fretless bass and an upright bass and they sound very different, so it's not that. Probably just a combiniation of the bass, the strings, and his style.

It sounds like a fretless bass guitar 'cos its without frets too.

Definately a bass.Much bigger than a cello, but yeah, they do look kinda the same. But that's an upright/acoustic/double bass.

isnt it a chello? not a bass?
xenotoxette (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
It's just Stanley...
Zeldafoo9 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
how does he get that tone out of his bass? It sounds like a fretless bass guitar, not an upright bass. Is it the strings or something? Or some kind of pickup? I'm baffled. |
