Where The Wild Things Are - Early DISNEY CG Animation Test

1983 animation test by Disney, directed by John Lasseter (who went on to direct and produce most of the Pixar films, including Toy Story). Back then Disney owned the film rights to the Where The Wild Things Are books... they didn't use them, though, so they lost them. Check out this amazing test, which combined traditional hand-drawn, 2D animation with then-state-of-the-art 3D computer animation!

Walt Disney. You can criticize them all you want as a company, even the content of their films (even if it isn't their fault the stories are that way), but one thing you can't argue with is that the quality of their animation was, is, and always will be, amazing.

Wow, this shows how early CGI was, but the character animation was top notch.

Why wouldn't they have made this? I guess it's true that Eisner was an idiot. He would've had a say on this around that exact time.

This was also an early example on digital coloring, which would later give rise to the famous CAPS system. But in the days when this test was made, it was not considred to be good enough.
