It was distributed by Warner Bros. The director was Peter Yates. The story was adapted for the screen by Alan Trustman and Harry Kleiner, based on the novel titled Mute Witness (1963) by Robert L. Fish (aka Robert L. Pike). Lalo Schifrin wrote the original music score, a memorable mix of jazz, brass and percussion. The movie won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing (Frank P. Keller) and was nominated for Best Sound. Writers Trustman and Kleiner won a 1969 Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Motion Picture Screenplay.Bullitt is most-remembered for its central car chase scene through the streets of downtown San Francisco, one of the earliest and most influential car chase sequences in movie history.[1] The scene had Bullitt in a dark "Highland Green" 1968 Ford Mustang G.T.390 Fastback, chasing two hit-men in a "Tuxedo Black" 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Magnum. (In honor of the Mustang in the film, the Ford Motor Company produced a limited edition 2001 Ford Mustang GT "Bullitt Mustang," which took styling cues from the '68 movie car and even mimicked its exhaust note).

The first one. off the right side, comes off at 3:48.You can't which one, but, in the left corner, of the screen; the hubcap bounces off the curb. The second, a right rear, comes off at 4:06. The third, a right front, comes off at 4:25.{ the right rear is back on.} The last two, both left sides, come off at 8:43, just before the Charger exploded. If only the bad guys invested in some factory-approved Mag wheels; no hubcaps would have came off at all!!!!!!!

you have been watching the fast and the furious to much, double clutching hasnt been needed since the 1920's when synchronizers were first put into cars, and FYI, if that charger was just cruising along, that mustang would have ran him down quickly, old muscle cars only had 4 gears in most cases, that charger in 4th would turn up very slowly compared to newer cars with 5 or 6 gears, so it probably wouldnt sound like it was doing much, you obviously know nothing about cars....

Actually Steve is double clutching like most race car drivers do.And the mustang probably would of been better if they used a hi po 289 instead of the 390 truck engine. Those motors were dogs.
