The Chance Vought F4U Corsair was an American fighter aircraft that saw service in World War II and the Korean War (and in isolated local conflicts). Goodyear-built Corsairs were designated FG and Brewster-built aircraft F3A. The Corsair served in some air forces until the 1960s, following the longest production run of any piston-engined fighter in U.S. history (1942--1952).[1] [2] During World War II, it was the fighter the Japanese feared the most.[citation needed] The U.S. Navy counted an 11:1 kill ratio for every F4U shot down.

The Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine is in use today on the CL-215. ;) Nothing like a radial piston engine to really get your heart pumping.

Always a privilege to be in the company of Corsairs. All time favorite. Have seen three in my lifetime and each time was awesome. Standing beside one is truly a humbling and exhilarating experience. Nearly jumped out of my skin when I saw the F2G race this year at Reno. Awesome aircraft.

Very nice. Love that guy for his dedication to restoration & preservation. This is my favorite american fighter. German is the FW-190 A-4,5 and favorite bomber of all time is the B-17f. Great to see this baby roll and fly.
