SPOT187 You read my comment incorrectly. I am not white I am black. I am Canadian of Jamaican descent. Both my parents are born black, from the island of Jamaica. Please read my comment again. The point I was trying to make is the month of February is an attempt to bring awareness to the lack of black history teaching in North American schooling. Something I know intimately as I am black and only learned of white history. European history and the "discovery" of the rest of the world.

I have to agree ElhajjMalik because you are white and of European descent so you apparently fail to realize that black history is just one month not to mention the shortest one but for all the other 11 months we are really only exposed to only european history. You don't recognize that because it is normal to you. With this said i have to say that i value both histories it is just not fair to not acknowledge the history of a people who struggled so much & were so instrumental to this country

"a black man with a muslim name"It's NOT a "muslim" name..it's an arab name. Not all muslims are arabs obviously & vice versa.

I am proud of Black History month for the Americans as you should be too. I am Canadian of Jamaican descent. My parents are highly educated as am I. I recieved the "whitest" of education (European history)and nothing of my history. My parents would be considered "uncle tom ass kissing niggas" by some blacks as they are completely assimilated into the white suburban lifestyle. I satrted to learn about my history through TV and my own reading. Black History month is an attempt to rectify that.

Wow. "150 year old excuse"? . how ignorant. what happened is an excuse?. You are very ignorant. We should really hate you. but we dont. we are still being opressed. but we still try a civil route instead of a violent one. We still live amongst you. walk amongst you. work for you. and you still wont apologize for what happened., instead you say we make excuses. Jesus man. that is some hurtful shit. And as far as I am concerned if a blackman hates a white man who brought that on?

i make cake and icecream and i will eat all of it............fuck the cake you speak of shoandtheha
whoandtheha (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
With all this seperating going on, the black population are only hurting themselves in the long run, for nowadays, they are arguing this point to a generation who really are moving past this. This whole, "I want my cake, I wanna eat it too, then I want some fucking ice cream!" Crap is getting old, fast.

I agree to that standpoint that there is a subculture within most every race, but this constant "Exclusive Black" idea has gotten out of hand. With everything I mentioned earlier, plus afferminative action, Black history month, it seems to get shoved down our throats at every turn. This being said, blacks, who on one hand want to be treated as equal, on the other, want be given special recognition for themselves. And when anyone questions it, the old race card comes into play.

Come on be fair it is inequitable to not acknowledge the date this video was recorded this was in the early 1960's I think it would be almost impossible to not have any feelings of hostility towards whites & authorities given what was taken place at that time. However I do agree with your lager notion which is that TODAY these feelings & reasonings are no longer totally valid...especially given the fact that a black man with a muslim name was elected president by this majority"white" nation. |
