There is nothing similar to Allan Holdsworth. His ONE of a kind! Nothing comes close.Start with the album "Road Games" then move on to "Metal fatigue" then maybe Sand and why not an old Bruford album "One of a kind"

To: P3313 regarding Circle picking. Just hold the pick as you normal do.Instead of going back and forth accross the string, the UP stroke is coming from the 7:00 O'clock area toward the 1:00 O'clock area. Then reversing direction for the Down stroke. It's more of an oval or elipse than circle.Holdsworth's sound and style reminds me of Jeff Beck. I saw him with the Yardbirds in 1966. After that, I was hooked. I hope this helps.

what's circle technique?

I would kill for Holdsworth tone too, it's so smooth. Same goes for his amazing phrasing.

Good style. His picking technique is both alternating and circle as well as some other things he does that is too hard to see.

Or Carvin hire Delap to design a Delap style Carvin guitar? Been waiting years for something like that.

basically. and then the way he ended it with "...uhh...derrr... you know?" LOL. that was the best part.

Yeah, so...are you mesmorized by his thought process...perhaps the shifting of his eyes describing the manufacturer to retailer process...oooh aw...oh baby

Wow...Alan is awesome...its interesting to hear how Alan has lost some (or a lot) of his brogue, compared to his REH video circa late '80s...no offense Al, but I don't have to stretch my ears to understand ya so much now
