What a wonderful player, and instrument too! I always imagined that an instrument of that era would sound scratchy and thin but obviously I was wrong!Strange that a player of that calibre should be using music in a performance; I have a feeling that she probably doesn't need it - just lacks a little in confidence.

I have read that the finger does in fact tension the bow hair in early viol technique to some degree. Pretty fascinating concept as it sounds like a whole new element to learn all in itself...

I'm with you, Chainedorlo! I love string instruments so much; they are wonderful voices and languages to explore. Have to be careful not to neglect them though!This video is wonderful and I've always been intrigued by these instruments...
