There is usually not just one general meaning to a metaphor. Each person approaches it differently and gains a different image from it. Whether a metaphor makes sense or not is subjective. Some just click with people; others go right over the head.

do lyrics really have to make sense? i mean look at a Beatle classic- "lucy in the sky with diamonds" makes no fuckin sense, but a great song. besides, it paints a great picture. wonderful imagery in these lyrics. not everything has to be deep and thoughtful. Sometimes things can be sweet and simple.

Metaphors make sense on a certain level, even when not taken literally or they wouldn't be recognized as a rhetorical style. so eat shit, this song is catchy but the lyrics are lame.
