one of my fave movies is Empire of the Sun, and fave part is when the Americans bomb the Prisoner camp in Japan and all these Mustangs start annihalating the japs.

You're correct, BUT you can't compare the two since the Messerschmit was jet powered and in a totaly different category than prop powered.

I would argue that quite a bit..what about planes such as the...Spitfire, Zero, Lavochkin La-5, Yak 9U, Sea Fury, among others, kind of hard to say it was the best ever isnt it.

I agree it is a very elegant plane with a great sound, but don't forget that our german "friends" had produced a ME 262 that outpowered the mustang by far...

As a Brit, it pains me to say that I agree! Rather a P51 than a Spitfire anyday - but what about that engine? UK/US cooperation at its best. Great vid. Thanks for upload.

Great footage. Someone did a nice job filming this. Slight correction to narration: there are approx. 140 flying P-51's in the world today.
