Do I sense the interviewer is questioning Srila Prabhupada GuruDev with a condescending attitude? Maybe he's just representative of the distrust of ISKCON during those days by the American public in general..

Srikrishajay - "Haven't we all sprung from the same source?" Yes, but Prabhupada is referring to the animal's ability to philosophically enquire and reason. Mrgyn-"We are against long hair"'Cultural speak' if you will, a bit of quick tongue in cheek - Prabhupad means that devotees have renounced vanity/personal beauty as well as the general focus on one's material body rather than our spiritual body. Not that he has an actually bias against long hair. Afterall, Krishna has long hair.

The humble sage, by virtue of true knowledge, sees with equal vision a learned & gentle saint, a cow, an elephant, a dog & a dog eater." BG chapter 5, mantra 18One thing I don't understand is we are still creating differences between animals and human beings, we think we are distinct from animals... "Haven't we all sprung from the same source?" -Rama.(please don't take this message personal)I have many respects Abhay Charan, he was and still a great revolutionary.

They don't do interviews like that anymore. that's just a regular news station and the interviewer did an excellent job. He didn't play "hardball" and it wasn't about him. He was informed and was interviewing the man, not using the interview as a pulpit for his own views. I would probably watch TV if the modern "pundits" would take a lesson from this guy.

Mrgyn, of you really think about it its T.V. that tells us long hair is beautful. when really it should not matter what you look like as long as the creator is in your life and your heathy.

Prabhupada is a true representative of God. Forget all these so called self help gurus who wants to take your money, forget all these so called humanitarian or philantrophist who just wants to look good on camera. In order for the world to advance the right way, we must all propogate prabhupada's purest and genuine message which is - To love God/krishna/allah/yeshua/buddha whatever you want to call him. |
